Hi everyone,

I am an artist and writer based in Paris, France, and a Maître de
conférences at the Université Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne). My art
projects include /City Portraits, Paris Réseau, AAA (Archiving as Art),
A Map Larger than the Territory, Eavesdroplets /and/Partially Buried

My book /Walking and Mapping: Artists as Cartographers /(2013)//has just
been published by the MIT Press. In it, I explore a series of
walking/mapping projects by contemporary artists. Some chart "emotional
GPS"; some use satellites for creating landscapes made of data
--"datascapes"-- while others use their legs to do "speculative
mapping." Earlier publications include /Paris Réseau/Paris Network/
(2000), a bilingual CD-Rom, /Archiving as Art /(2000), an exhibition
catalogue, and /Art-Réseaux/ (1992), an edited book documenting the
collaborative activities of the Art-Réseaux group in the late 1980s and
early 1990s.

With three colleagues at the Sorbonne and correspondents in France,
Great Britain, Norway and the US, I am currently developing a collective
project called /The End of Maps ?/ /Dream Territories, Standardized
Territories/which will involve a series of workshops, a conference, a
publication, and a database/archive of Art and Mapping projects.

I also have several book projects in the works: /Des arts-réseaux aux
derives programmées /(adaptation of my habilitation thesis from 2011)
and /Spatial Storytelling/ are in varying stages of completion. /The
Gift (After Lewis Hyde and Marcel Mauss)/ is a crazy idea I got in the
train the other day/. /
