I enjoyed Jason's comments on the Woobulator, and the function of the machine as device for revising the image. I welcome Murita's observation that cinema has many different potential epistemologies, depending on how its deployed. I think the exhibit, by displaying the plans for the devices, the actual machinery, and the works produced by artists in residence, does justice to the sense watching the process unfold that artists were not just using tools, but working to engage technologies that had their own creative and deconstructive potentials. In other word the machines needed to be read, a phrase Scott Nygren and I used in writing about work of the Vasulkas.<br>
