I wanted to suggest an artist who might be interesting on this topic, though probably not right now. Cicero Silva (S.P. Brazil) has had a very interesting academic career, from PhD in Communications, through the art and new media world's (I am proud to be a
frequent collaborator on many things locative), through big involvement in the early FILE festivals, and he is now at Brazil's leading Medical University where he teaches digital media to health professionals, and has been doing research in high speed networks
and tele surgery. Now he is working with Brazil's Covid-19 experts on Brazil's public health education effort, which in my sense of things is coming more from their medical and public health community than elsewhere. It is very interesting to find a digital
media artist so close to the eye of the storm in terms of public health response, however I feel like his story may not be able to be shared in real time due to his current 25 hour work days. But I did want to acknowledge him here and suggest that he might
be an interesting guest when history allows!<br>

Thank you, Melinda, for sharing your story. I am also hopeful of the changes that you talked about in this post. Another pressing issue that surfaced during the pandemic is about the environment. After NASA released their satellite images that show a dramatic
decline in air pollution in China (<a href="https://www.earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/146362/airborne-nitrogen-dioxide-plummets-over-china">https://www.earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/146362/airborne-nitrogen-dioxide-plummets-over-china</a>), numerous
studies and news reports have estimated that China's lockdown strategy may have saved tens of thousands of lives in China alone.<br>
<br>
This short-term economic halt will unlikely have any long-term consequence, not to mention its tremendous impact on the most vulnerable population. However, I agree that many of us still have the reason to believe that the crisis can be more than a huge inconvenience
to our lifestyle, but an opportunity to reflect on excessive consumption, environmental impact, and more.<br>
