Perhaps the additional explanations are an artifact of the medium--I mean when
you go to a gallery, the space contextualizes the contents as art.  When you
go to a webpage, maybe it is art, maybe it is amazon.com, maybe it is
political propaganda...  Perhaps the explanations are an effort to place
"gallery doors" between the rest of the web and the artwork.
