yes, you're right. i think one of the audiences/communities i have in mind is the 'flash' community. cost and learning curve hasn't deterred there. and in design/new media it's hard to find a university level program that does not teach flash. try and find a program anywhere that teaches interactive quicktime. i've found one so far, in denmark. yet how many 'film' people have i met who think flash is the only way do go 'interactive'.


the best work in interactive quicktime uses flash for graphics and text and sometimes some button stuff, and then imports that into quicktime and does the bulk of the scripting in quicktime. but when i show film people examples of what you can do they're gobsmacked (if that translates). when i show flash developers what you can do ditto. so i sort of am left wondering what if all those kids learning how to do flash knew they could achieve the same sort of party tricks using video. what sort of work would we get? and what could cinema become?
