[-empyre-] A thought on intimacy.
lET'S TAKE A CPUOLE WORKS IN CONTRAST.
Whoops...
Go to the (re)distributions show http://www.voyd.com/ia and look at Gregory
Chapuisat's Poke in contrast with Angie Waller's clip.fm.
Both illustrations play with the intimate nature of the PDA/IA. However,
Poke plays with the PDA screen as a site of intimacy in which the user
caresses the screen like a loved one, and in clip.fm, the phone is used as a
channel through which uncomfortable communcations can be expressed.
Are both of these works dependent on their mode of interface with the
observer? Could a cell phone be used to have a Poke-like intimacy, and
vice-versa? What are the differences in the mode of interaction,
communication, and delivery of message, and how do these diverge from the
desktop?
