[-empyre-] Alter_Form - Mez and Hideki Nakazawa

To kick off our last session for the year -empyre- takes pleasure in
introducing two artists working with very different forms:

--->Australian Mary-Anne Breeze, better known as Mez across the networks,
constructs unique code/net.wurks via her pioneering net.language
"mezangelle". "Mez does for code poetry as jodi and Vuk Cosic have done for
ASCII Art: Turning a great, but naively executed concept into something
brilliant, paving the ground for a whole generationof digital artists."
(Florian Cramer). Mez is also a networked jillaroo, an online journalist and
co-moderator of the _arc.hive_ experimental mailing list and has exhibited
extensively internationally since the early 90's. Her awards include the
2001 VIF Prize by the Humboldt-Universitat, the JavaMuseum Artist Of The
Year 2001, and the 2002 Newcastle New Media Poetry Prize. She is currently
showing in The Pleasure of Language at Montevideo, Amsterdam.

Mez will investigate the projected self in networked space - representation
which allows for constant revision and a certain amount of slippage in
terms of personality construction within public/private notions of space.

---> Hideki Nakazawa, our Guest from Tokyo, will discuss the logically based
Method Art Movement. Hideki, his practice and the Methodicist Manifesto will
be introduced in more detail on 15 September...

over to Mez..
