Re: Re: [-empyre-] race, net-art, strategy
I thank you all for the engaging discussion
politicisation is the natural consequence of art that disrupts the comfortability of the viewer. If the majority of those viewing have a negative experience of the work, then the work has been successful in invoking the right questions or stirring up conversation , as we are doing now. I thank Damali for her bravery. There are various responses to various ghettos, be it white> black> art> or literature> church>...one can respond in various ways to this...this is a line from a rap by NAUGHTY BY NATURE...
(this is not in any way directed at anyone)
**If you ain't been to the ghetto.
Don't come to the ghetto.
'Cause you won't understand the ghetto,
so stay the fuck out of the ghetto.**
from the song Ghetto Bastard >>
OR one can respond as we are ...in a living discourse.hERE is a quote that I love of Michael Brenson's =
*****The new curator ( artist) understands and is able to articulate, touch and mobilise people and encourage debates about spirituality, creativity, identity and the nation. The texture and tone of the curator's voice, the voice it welcomes or excludes, and the shape of the conversation it sets in motion are essential to the texture and perception of contemporary art..." Art Journal Winter '98.******
I applaud you Damali for your clever and inclusive wit...let those who have ears hear. Great comments too Keith! malo lava. Leafa
