A computer can exhibit pathological behavior; just as a cat may become
obsessed, or a human, or a mouse - why not a computer? Does obsession
require a degree of consciousness? What degree? Is an infinite loop an
obsession?

I think the problem might be in the words 'pathology,' 'obsession,' etc. -
these are so overdetermined in psychoanalysis vis-a-vis human
subjectivity, it's quite difficult to apply them outside of that realm.

I'd go along with David Bohm here in the sense that we need an entirely
new way to think about things -
