Re: [-empyre-] playthings response
Eugenie et al,
though it's easy and pretty interesting to conceive of a mod that would
totally destroy the internal logic of a game and make a familiar,
legible
environment completely disconcerting. can anybody think of examples of
this
sort of mod?
Well, I have not played it but perhaps QQQ from nullpointer? It
certainly seems to deconstruct the symbolic space of Quake III into an
environment that is even more artificial / unreal. That is, if the game
space of Quake III is a familiar environment?

'QQQ' exploits these aesthetic trends, and infuses them with an
autonomous, generative aspect. The modified engine creates a continuous
stream of glitched images and abstracted video sequences. The constant
modulation of the digital landscape, coupled with the 24/7 interaction
of online players creates an environment in flux, with no end or
beginning.

This may be interesting from an anamorphic point of view as well due to
the layering of multiple perspectives of the game space, breakdown of
the representation etc? I would be interested also in how the
autonomous, generative aspect works...
