Well, I have not played it but perhaps QQQ from nullpointer? It
jodi.net 's "Untitled Game" springs immediately to mind - I'm 
wondering if
it's still available somewhere...

'slipgate' is a good example. The space is made of layers of 
transparent grids so that you can see the whole space, but can't really 
see exactly where to go at the same time. It has the dogs from Quake, 
but they are represented as coloured cubes. As I remember, they still 
bark like 'real' dogs though...
