Re: [-empyre-] hi
I was on MOOs for a long time, and set up one with Kayo Matsushita at the
New School. I didn't find any difficulties with choosing; in fact, people
formed associations and friendships paralleling real-world ones. There
were also politics, and issues of governance; Dibbell goes into that at
great length. Being on a MOO was a continuous narrative in fact; as the
web developed, people flocked to IM and other forms, including blogs; the
MOOs now are mainly for teaching and the older ones still function quite
well with core people - Alan
