Finding the connection between creativity (I like to use that word when
talking about connecting to society rather than "artmaking" which has an
exclusionary quality) and the notions of power and control is the key.

This is why I like storytelling. It can be archetypal and, if good,  
accessible to the public. Yet it can also be filled with nuance (that 
meets my personal requirements for writing a good story).
