RE: [-empyre-] In the year 2525 - Using the web archives

Hi Paul,

I suppose that peoples' purposes will be very wide indeed.

But some observations nonetheless.

I find that, as a net.artist, I 'read' work most deeply when in the process
of cannibalizing it. If I really want to read someone's work deeply, I make
art out of parts of it. Or make something out of it, anyway. My own
arrangement and realization of the work.

A difficult example. My friend Ana Maria Uribe ( http://vispo.com/uribe )
passed away close to a year ago now. I have 600 mb of files of hers on my
computer. I have not had the desire to sift through those files yet. But
what I would like to do is put together something downloadable for people,
mainly for other artists, to use in their own work. Parts of Ana Maria's
data body they can use in their own work if they like. Texts, animations,
sounds. Of course her brother will have to like the notion. I think it will
depend on the selection and assemblage whether he could in all conscience
approve it, whether his inner Ana Maria would like it.
