Re: [-empyre-] short overview - mixed reality works
Hi All,
I'm guesting later this month, for the moment just enjoying the conversations,
hearing peoples' experiences and opinions.
But to answer Kathy's question, yes, John McCormick and I are developing a
realworld controller for our SL audiovisual works. It's all going very well,
we're using an arduino board with bluetooth module, which talks to a phython
script, which talks to the Second Life pieces (via the llHttpRequest function
available in LSL, SL's scripting language) and back again. It's a symbiotic
loop, rather than a simple actual-controls-virtual stream a la most game
controllers. As an artist, I recognise no distinction between actual and
virtual and don't consider it a dichotomy. Conceptually, that's easy to
manage, technically more challenging, but more on that when I have my dog day
empyre :)
Cheers,
Adam
