Re: [-empyre-] clarifications regarding programming in 2007

Christiane et all -

My apologies to everyone as I certainly did not intend to misdirect or misquote anyone ( aka only the best of intentions!)

Perhaps, I was the one who was (unintentionally ) misdirected as I had understod that empyre was going "dark" for the summer months ( US ) and then re-invigorated in the fall ( US.) Apparently, I did not receive your follow-up email ( I did check back ) which delineated the schedules for the months of June through December, 2008. The email below is the first that I have learned of this schedule and happily so!

In any case, I'm glad that this is sorted out and that the global path is clear and active -

Closing out the brief detour!

All best,

Chris

Hello everybody, just a brief detour here, then we can get back to the topic.

A snippet misquoting a recent post wherein I announced a May break for -empyre-, apparently spawned massive confusion. The snippet makes it sound like -empyre- could be somehow nonfunctional until the mythical "Fall/Spring 2008."

My email apologizing to blackbyrd in May for the use of the term "fall' is here: https://mail.cofa.unsw.edu.au/pipermail/empyre/2007- May/msg00008.html

Apologies to blackbryd, as a Californian I am turned around about seasons. Hey it's surfin' USA right.
Do we even have seasons?

Sorry I should have said "next spring" when I meant September 2007. At the time I wrote the note, I was not sure of our guests' time commitments.

-empyre- took May off. It is not off in June through December 2007. It is a featured magazine at Documenta 12, opening June 16.

Thanks to our amazing list membership who don't let us quit, we plan/ hope to be active in 2008 as always!.

The following is our tentative schedule of programming thus far, guests TBA (to be announced). Changes possible.

June: Tracey Meziane (AU), moderator, on performance and body
July: Sergio Basbaum (BR) , moderator, topic synaesthesia and digital media
August: Melinda Rackham (AU), moderator, topic "the Good the Bad and the Ugly... Being of Art in Second Life"
September: Christina McPhee (US), co=moderators, on 'critical spatial practice' with Jenny Marketou and Markus Meissen et al
October: Christina McPhee (US) and Marcus Bastos (BR), co moderators, on 'Potemkin Village" with the Break Festival 2.4 Ljubiana
November: Tim Murray and Renate Ferro (US) co-moderators, topic TBA

Please send any topic or guest suggestions to our moderating team at empyre-owner@lists.cofa.unsw.edu.au Input most welcome.

Thanks to all for keeping the list alive!
