Thanks to the two Johns for taking us in the direction of discussing 
the paradox of  eco-sustainability and digital culture.  Our hope is 
launching this month was both to feature artists and curators who 
have been profiting from the tech and networks of  digital culture to 
foreground the issues of sustainability and to invent creative 
responses to the global crisis as well, hopefully, to dwell on the 
paradox of our reliance on electronic systems AND cultural formations 
and habits whose own power and hubris may be overtaxing the system. 
We feel strongly that habits of artistic creation and cultural 
discourse are as much part of the fabric of sustainability as is 
energy.
