Christina's point was great.  The idea that one can naturalize anything 
is often taken as a Modernist gesture to do so by assimilating it to the 
artist's independent creative gesture. I'm not so sure.  If I had to 
find the ten-word answers, it would be that Smithson more effectively 
obliterated the assumptions there, while Matta-Clark more effectively 
rooted them in New York real estate (without producing one of Haacke's 
maps of real-estate holdings).  But I'm not trying to advocate score 
keeping.
