Grupo GIA works reflect one of Helio Oiticia main statements: "The Musuem is
the World".
The collective has been developing their projects since 2002, using
alternative media systems and circuits in different urban situations.
The group members are:
Cristiano Piton, Everton Marcos Santos, Ludmila Britto, Mark dayves, Pedro
Marighella and Tiago Ribeiro.
One of my favorite projects is the actions "balloons".
In 2003, in the beginning of the Iraq war, they distributed from a high
building in Salvador, colored balloons with small tags attached with
messages like: and if it were a chemical weapon? this could be terrorism.
they repeated the action in 2005 in São Paulo, at Fiat Mostra Brasil, in
conjuntion of a set of other actions (like row -- that just form unnecessary
lines in front of some place questioning the formal/authoritarian and
bureaucratic organization of public spaces in Brazil).
