To be brutally literal, a personal favourite project from recent years 
is Helmut Smits "Photo Tip" (viewable at the top of: http://is.gd/7Qgb )

Disaster lurks in the background of Corwyn Lund's "Microphone Bouquet 
Series" (which I briefly summarized in 2007: http://is.gd/7Qgk )

Both of these works address the repercussions of disaster/catastrophe in 
the media.
