Hi Renate and Tim,
Soft skinned resolution for 2009, first try, stopped at the border
'Soft skin' reverberates all too painfully as I
am confronted by images of damaged and destroyed
bodies of Gaza Palestinians. Resolution seems
futile. Yet my networks allow me to share
information, support, outrage and maybe even have
some political effect. Let's hope
Soft skinned resolution for 2009, second try... border crossing
Border crossings hoping for more porous borders
in 2009 -- locally, globally, networked, actual
and imaginary.
This try too comes after days of listening to
horrifying reports about Gaza. Despite
globalization, too many borders remain as closed
and troubled as ever ... digital networks are
all the more important to make them porous.

Norie Neumark
Norie Neumark (Australia) is a sound/media artist
who works in collaboration with Maria Miranda as
Out-of-Sync. Recent work playing between the
actual and imaginary includes Talking about the
Weather and Searching for rue Simon-Crubellier.
Norie is co-editor of At a Distance: Precursors
to Art and Activism on the Internet (MIT Press
2005) and is Director of the Centre for Media
Arts Innovation at University of Technology,
Sydney.
