[-empyre-] Ian Clothier: Resolution for Digital Futures

My hope for 2009 is to end the obsession the West has with being the
correct one, with holding the right point of view. I would like to
open doors that allow a menagerie of concepts to cohabit willingly,
without any put down. I'd like to see the abacus listed as the
precursor of the computer, instead of the difference engine. I wish
to see Asia acknowledged for it's incredible multi-millennium
innovation. I'd love a bridge that connected Pasifika, Asian, Indian,
south American and Western European beliefs systems alongside each
other. I wish we could see nature as playing a strange perverse game
of variation rather than a survival of the fittest - chance outpaces
natural selection. Above all I wish love was a respectable emotion,
good enough for academic and artistic discourse: love for
environment, for people, for stars. Dreams are free, and one path of
many to living without chains.
