Judith, if I understand her correctly, and I are presenting against the
'physical'. and the way in which the audience's presence enables the
operation to occur (much like Mercer discusses in relation to Mapplethorphe
in 'skin head sex thing'), is this relational? is it just reception?
another thought - how do we, do we want to, can we, distinguish between the
relational and the participatory? it seems to me like the difference is
important for how we think the relational as an operation (that word again,
sorry), as Robert and Judith present it as more than just the participatory.
