Attention -empyre- subscribers:
The moderating team at -empyre- is still seeking subscribers who
would be interested in joining the moderating team. We are especially
keen on broadening the moderating team to -empyre- members from
outside of the US (of course, we'd love to hear from interested
Americans as well!).
Because our current team is very lean (4 in number), it is crucial
that we expand to permit the broadest coverage of discussions of the
field.
Moderators are responsible for conceiving, organizing, and
implementing two monthly discussions per year and for working with
the other team members to facilitate critical perspectives on
contemporary cross-disciplinary issues, practices and events in
networked media. Historically, our moderators have been active in
international new media exhibitions, conferences, and other
listservs, which permits us to expand our base and to engage with
emergent issues. It is important that moderators celebrate
diversity and the respectful exchange of ideas and practices.
-empyre- is an international global community which preserves its autonomy
as a collaborative entity by engaging with new content on a monthly
basis. The list was instigated by Melinda Rackham (AU) in 2002.
The current moderating team consists of Renate Ferro (US), Tim Murray
(US), Nicholas Ruiz III (US), and Gabriel Menotti
(Brazil, UK). The list is soon to be managed from a website at
Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York, and is generously housed on
a server maintained by the College of Fina Arts (COFA) at the
University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
If interested please contact the Managing Moderators, Renate Ferro
and Tim Murray, at

Thanks, and looking forward to hearing from you,
Renate and Tim
