As an artist I've always stood against the corporations and their mode
of business. I think it's about continuing to live as an artist and
make art in spite of all the promises and seductions. I also dislike
the idea of artists who engage in socially relevant practices. I find
that dilutes the position of being an artist turning them into social
workers. I don't believe art should be any sort of psychic healing or
respite or fun zone or lifestyle choice etc.. I think being an artist
is about arguing above and beyond the current intellectual and
political millieu. Optimally an artist liberates themselves from all
of that. They find a place that is actual freedom, perhaps poetic and
anarchic.
