Dear Tim,
 I'm just thinking and writing a little text concerning the situation,
I will send it to Empyre list when it will be done.

For sure french intellectuals are mute, as they are'nt able to make
the link (and make the sense) between "social chaos" and what is
/could be new.
They don't understant why people protest about retirement, they don't
see that the problem is the FUTURE ITSELF - I talked with many
students, teenagers of 17, 18, 19 years old, and they say that for
them, refom or not reform, they will have no money when they will be
old.

That's why they want to retreat / "se retirer" (withdraw themselve)
before retirement / "retraite".

In fact, they want to live. All of them are not politically
anti-capitalist, but they are (what could be the accurate word ?)
lively anti-capitalist. No "conscience de classe", but I would rather
say "conscience de casse" (it doesnt mean that they want to destroy
("casser") things, but that their lives are almost destroyed: the
reform is a proactive destruction of their future...).
