As we transition into a new monthly topic on
-empyre-, "how does a field become visible,
when?" to be moderated by Christina McPhee
(welcome back, Christina), we want to make sure
to express our gratitude on behalf of the list to
the tremendous contributions made throughout the
month of February during our discussion of New
Media and the Middle East. We were gratified to
be able to benefit so much from the experience,
knowledge, and insights of our featured guests
during a month of so much incredible turmoil and
uncertainty throughout the Middle East. Your
clarifications of Middle Eastern new media and
screen arts on the artistic, cultural, and
political scenes have extended the international
lens of -empyre- in crucial ways that we expect
to continue developing.
Thanks ever so much for the invaluable
contributions of Mirene Arsanios (Lebanon), Eliot
Bates (US), Isak Berbic (UAE), Ayah Bdeir
(Lebanon/US), Tarek Elhaik (US), Mayssa Fattouh
(Qatar), Shuruq Harb (Palestine), Horit Herman
Peled (IS), Laura U. Marks (Cn), Kevin and
Jennifer McCoy (US/UAE), Nat Müller
(Netherlands), and Larissa Sansour (UK).
We invite you to remain as members of the
-empyre- community and we look forward to hearing
more from you on the list.
All our best,
Renate and Tim
