Hi all,
A brief introduction:
Valerie's comment referenced functional aesthetics which describes the
concept of merging a fashionable technology object deemed to be
aesthetically pleasant with technically enhanced functionalities.
Fashionable technology describes the intersection of design, fashion,
science, and technology and refers to all technologies interlinked
with the body like biotechnology, nanotechnology, digital technology,
textile technology, etc.
As quoted in the preface of my last book I strongly believe that the
year 2010 appeared to have been the junction when fashionable
technology was elevated from the phase of experimentation.
My work is based on context and concept, the balance of function and
aesthetics, and transperency (regarding issues that are often
described in the context of sustainability). Currently we are working
on a research and concept design project called Amplification of
Energy which examines the harvesting of localized energy.
Regards and looking forward to the further threads,
Sabine
