dear all

Simon, thank you, always welcome distractor from nz and your labels (strange names), this music/video is superb and an extraordinary play on various surrealisms and einsteins on the beaches.
hmm, what would we call this kind of song (JD - Southern Lights (Kid Loco's Shadow Catcher Remix)) on the "sky dwellers, back peddlers" et al? what kind of a dub is this?

i remember before your first distraction you spoke of looking forward to my " dub version butoh this month", and i had no real clue what "dub butoh" would be.

but i am catching up, catching up. need to learn more about the reggae dub poets.

(my personal reading assignments in coming weeke:
Henriques, Julian F., "Sonic Bodies: Reggae Sound Systems, Performance Techniques and Ways of Knowing," London: Continuum, 2011.
Baker, Geoffrey, "Buena Vista in the Club: Rap, Raggaetón, and Revolution in Havana," Durham: Duke University Press, 2011.
Rodgers, Tara, "Pink Noises: Women and Electronic Music & Sound," Durham: Duke UP, 2010.

and skipping around in Paul Gilroy's tracks (dubbing Bob Marley) in  "Darker than Blue" ..... a book on "moral economies" and rights;
Gilroy suggests that at a time of economic crisis, environmental degradation, ongoing warfare, and heated debate over human rights,
there is urgent need to reassess the changing place of black cultures [and in a relational sense, all cultures] & social movements...

Thank you for a fascinating and satisfying month of discussion.

By way of a final distraction, as it was in the beginning, here also at
the end:
another music video, I dreamt last night, at liminal first light, that
it might be apropos:
made by my brother and I for SJD:
