[-empyre-] a poem in the wall

Hello Lucas,

As I've written previously, the house belonged to the grandmother of a
friend of us. In fact, it was a set of five or six small houses, built
by her father, a portuguese imigrant. The houses were 70 to 80 years
old, and belonged to a part of Vila Madalena which is quickly
disapearing, since the value of this area is increasing in crazy
levels. So, those headquarters in which one could find a mix of
classes, intelectuals and artists,is being transformed in a
high-middle class neighbourhood, and there's no comeback..

The houses were sold some months ago, then, for some company which
will raise a building there. When we were informed about the
demolition, we still had three weeks,in which an occupation by artists
was planned and done, before they (the new owners) had the keys.

There were some performance groups and other artists. I'm colaborating
with a performance group named "Nucleo de Garagem".

The owners authorized the occupation, but decided (at least as I
understood it) to start the demolition immediately after our action.
The son of the previous owner is a historian, and he made an agreement
to photograph the whole demolition, since he lived in one of these
houses when he was a kid, and they were built by his grandfather with
his own hands. Also, he's been documenting the changes in Vila Madalena
in the last decade, since it became obvious that the area was
changing.

The picture was taken by him. It seems that the workers do not want to
put down the wall with poem.
