I don't know. As woman here alone it has been difficult and often unpleasant navigating the streets finding my way without knowledge of the language. Women seem to be targets of some sort to some here and looked down upon by some. Also, my first day a taxi driver scammed me for a pretty large amount of cash (relatively)--I was totally unsuspecting but should not have been. It's been interesting, but a little rough. I just had to say it.
The conference doesn't surprise me I didn't expect much different except as Patrick says weird lack of local representation.
