Hi,
On the subject of the degree of security at Sabanci Centre I just wanted to let people know that part of the reason for the paranoia about security is that yes Sabanci University is owned by extremely wealthy people and one of them was assassinated last year. This information does shade the appreciation of security measures there.
It doesn't however change much in regard to some of the other aspects expressed to the list.

hi All,
long time no post. but seeing empyrians at drinks last night was exciting.
I know what you mean about Sabanci Towers however there is another side to this which is that one gets an experience of 'real life' that as a tourist or usual conference participant in a big hotel of university one never has. going out to 4.levent on the metro with the cogs in the corporate machine, going through their normal everyday security is pretty intense, memorable, and interesting. experienicing another side to this amazing city and culture and pricks the curiosity about the wealth.
and then to return via 3 forms of transport to the liveliness, megalopolis, 3 sided Istanbul is thrilling.
