Alto University in Finland ( http://media.aalto.fi/en/ ) and the Helsinki Photomedia conference in 2012 gathered researchers developing theoretical frameworks and conducting practice based research studying the structure of the digital image — in relation not only to the image, but on photography beyond representation, metadata, glitch etc.
