Thanks Danny for sharing this important archive. I wanted to quickly share
with all of you another archive. On Saturday at the Finger Lakes
Environmental Film Festival I had the opportunity to meet and introduce
Andrew Lowenthal, the founder and executive director of Engage Media.
http://www.engagemedia.org
Engage Media is an international video portal highlighting ecological and
human rights injustices from the viewpoints of those that live in over
fifty countries many in Asia.
Andrew curated a program of short films created by residents of Papua, New
Guinea all documentaries that were shot and edited by Papuan residents all
of whom had never had any experience with video or moving image
documentary. Engage New Media supplied workshop training and gear as well
as a locally trained artist/documentary film maker who helped with the
training.
Important ecology, economic, and quality of life issues were highlighted by
personal stories authored by these papuan people. The short films are
almost video letters to the international community calling attention to
the daily plights that are faced daily.
Many of short films are online

Looking forward to this month's discussion very much and thanks to Tim for
starting things off.
