Why is mr Obama talking about economy and jobs? Because he is, indeed,
an old fashioned politician, despite his relative youth and the
vitality of his first campaign.
For the kind of politicians he represents (and maybe for all
politicians) economy and jobs are the garant of social stability and
progress.
They should know economy and jobs are not enough if you are confronted
with injustice and the feeling of being powerless.
The people (you, me, all) are feeling frustrated and no one knows how
to canalize this kind of feeling...
The Indignados protest in Spain, the Greek demonstrating against
austerity, Icelanders demonstrating against the banks and jailing
their politicians, the Occupy Wall Street and all the Occupy movement,
the protests now in Mexico, Hong Kong and the US, they are signs of a
deep social unrest and they should be read seriously, as the signs of
the need for people to be heard and taken in consideration.
