Simon Taylor's questions regarding the quotidian affects also was on my mind, and that's why I tried to bring back Sue and Simon Biggs' opening stipulation for our debate this month,
and I worry about the neoliberal capitalist context of encroaching 'informationalization' -- just today a sharp critique of algorithmic consumer culture/control society was released by 
Evgeny Morozov ("Wir ahnungslosen Versuchskaninchen", FAZ, 29 July) in which he mentions a new study on "Social Physics" (written by an MIT economics professor, Alex Pentland) that sounds thoroughly disgusting, I wonder
how John (who I think has a physics/science background) would think about Pentland's great data living laboratories/human behavior system analyses, and these notions of consumer/citizen
behavior effectuation/actuation via data monitoring surveillance...
