My thanks to Dalia Othman, Laila Sakr and Derek Conrad Murray for their contributions to our Week 1 discussions! We've just touched the tip of the iceberg, but I am very excited to see what will develop from these new and complex issues of public and private, and particularly the gendered and raced dimensions of self-representation -- and political representation -- through social media.

In a separate post, I'll begin our Week 2 discussion and introduce our new guests.
