[-empyre-] Welcome, Facebook, and new url's for empyre

Welcome to the new year on ­empyre soft-skinned space. Welcome back after
a one month break from our discussion topics.  We hope you are all
refreshed in 2015 as we all are. It was in 2002 that Melinda Rackham
introduced ­empyre soft skinned space to a like-minded group of interested
in networked culture.  Now thirteen years later we are still going strong
with close to 2000 active subscribers. While we reach out to more
subscribers the moderating team will be managed this year by Renate Ferro
with Selmin Kara, Patrick Keilty and Tim Murray joining the moderating
team. 

The moderating team has just introduced a new public Facebook page. While
we remain loyal to Melinda¹s original design for ­empyre to exist in the
closed space of a list-serv, Facebook serves as an announcement device for
monthly topics and potential ideas for the future.  Also a great way to
post photographs that may relate to ongoing discussions and also keep
track of other -empyre subscribers and their exhibitions, publications and
more.  The list-serv in principle does not forward any announcements for
its subscribers but this new Facebook page will be a good way to keep
others informed. While all members of the Facebook
page may join only those affiliated with the list serve subscription will
be posted on the Facebook site.

At the end of 2014 the repository for our archive system in Australia, The
College of Fine Arts (COFA) transitioned our URL¹s to incorporating their
new name, The College of Art and Design of the University of New South
Wales.
Our thanks to them for housing and archiving our  system. We are also
thankful to Cornell University for allowing us to use their
library server to launch our website. Please bookmark this new information
and please only post to the new empyre URL.
