Last September I made anime-like painting with the intention of emulating the wave motion of the refugee shores. This was at the height of the Syrian escape via boat. It is called
“Sea of Blood as a Rolling Dog.” (Christina McPhee 2015)… Here is the link :

The carnivalesque colors were chosen to evoke tatters and fragments of clothing and bodies in the roil of the surf.
