Congratulations Patrick and Negin.  How wonderful it has been to welcome you back to –empyre- along with Ana, Tim, and Murat.  Also wonderful to welcome Gloria, Maria and Emily.  I take the time out to acknowlege all of your contributions this week and do hope you will feel free to do so again.  

Patrick you are so correct.  The internet and our broadly networked world has put a burden on nurturing close communities which is why I feel so committed to –empyre-.  We have archives that date back to 2002 that track the movement and momentum of digital culture, new media and new technologies and art.  Through the years we have moved through a plethora of topics and conversations.  I think that –empyre- is at its best when we discuss our research and share our ideas and work in this open online forum.
