Re: Ana - it's of interest that there were also Europeans in agreement 
centuries ago - Lady Mary Wortley Montagu being a case in point; her 
Turkish Embassy letters are relevant here. (In addition she was 
instrumental in spreading smallpox inoculations which she learned about in 
Turkey.) Her dates are 1689-1762. She shared many of the prejudices of her 
time but went far beyond them.
