Thank you Dale, for moderating this month on -empyre- Why Are We Still Talking about the Middle East? I thought Parisa's final post brought our discussion full circle from the first week's posts on circumventing territorial navigation. It is always such an honor to have you host. You bring both artists and theoreticians together and we appreciate your time and willingness to organize. Thank you all to not only your invited guests but to a few of our subscribers who joined in: Anna, Allan, and William.
In your first post you posed this question: Are academic disciplines like art history, film and media studies, digital and visual arts complicit in extending the politically exclusionary and intellectually limiting frameworks of nations and regions that often marginalize and minoritize different perspectives?
I am hoping that -empyre- and its format--may at times offer us a way to break apart disciplines and the limiting frameworks of our global geographies.
Best to all of you this March.
