[-empyre-] FW: the unknowable, technology and Aquarius

Dear Arshiya the tension between astronomy and astrology provides a liminal space where I think we will be able to hover this week and I am looking forward to hearing from Derek, Jennifer, and Ritkika’s about their own artistic practices and listening to our thoughts at our zoom mini-conference on Friday.

Astronomy is a science that relies on scientific study, observation, research and publishing. It’s scope includes the space above the earth and its atmosphere: Stars, asteroids and galaxies and the network of their relationships.

Astrology looks at the relationship of the stars and planets but how they move in relationship to one another, but consequently what effects they may have on our living circumstances. Reading the stars and their movements created possibilities and lots of imagination. As a teenager I loved to look in the back of Seventeen Magazine to read my horoscope or even the local newspaper at the daily horoscopes. There was always hope and a little anxiety.

More tomorrow. Renate

Thanks, Kat for the feedback. As suggested by Renate I will be unpacking my ideas for the exhibition on Friday. Although the age of Aquarius is a western construct, within the Indian context astronomy and astrology sit side by side. Excited to unpack this, and much more regards these intersections.
thanks,
Arshiya

I agree with youthat it's also the byproduct of a western framework to imagine a hard linebetween the ideologies that governs these practices. I'd also be curious to hear Arshiya's thoughts on how astrology fits into intersections of science, future thinking, and liminal spaces. I just had a look at the lovely show <https://www.lakeeren.com/the-dawn-of-aquarius>

Just to clarify to all the exhibition at Lakeeren Gallery in Mumbai via the internet was curated by Arshiya. Our collaboration involved the thinking behind the discussion and the event on this coming Friday. Here is the information for all three. Thanks Kat. Renate
