Re: [-empyre-] this is not a spectator event ::

Hello Melinda et al and list,

In response to <the subscribership has doubled and the interaction has
halved..> issue ...

I have been a member of the list since its inception and got involved in the
beginning but then became a reader only. The war hasn't made it easier to be
involved either, I had an intense 2 months recently researching war, energy,
dollar hegemony etc which made my brain feel like an overloaded sponge.

I am looking forward to more involvement:

I am intensely interested in the upcoming internet sound discussion as I
make interactive net sound works - http://members.optusnet.com.au/~fizzion

Race and culture sounds good too, particularly in light of the recent Iraq
conflict. Years ago I read Soul Mountain by Gao Xingjian and immediately
felt a need to go to China to meet artists, to explore the culture. Our
proximity to Asia makes it imperative, for me, that we form relationships on
many levels with the people to the North, something that I feel our so
called government hasn't a clue about. We must be involved in Asia, not just
with Asia. Artists can and do make the effort to communicate with artists in
other cultures, more so now that we have the net.

I have to say sometimes that I find the language used by some on the list is
somewhat wanky and over verbose, less super-superlatives and hot air would
be good. I have avoided reading some posts because of this issue, I just
don't have the time to decipher what is being said. Maybe there should be a
prize for the most obtuse post?
