Re: [-empyre-] this is not a spectator event ::
thanx for your perspectives adam, barrie, patrick and lloyd..
i was attempting to prod the list body a little to remember we are a
community... (if inbred) - i recall when the list started we had a few
weeks of introductions which sort of established that sense of friendliness
and spontenaiety and people would just send in intros when they joined. the
list subscription has increased by about 500 since then but we havent had
any intro posts for a long time now. Maybe it would be great if any one who
hasnt done it before wants to send an into post just saying a bit about who
they are and what they do, so we get to know each other.
re the "threat" of publication.. i thought maybe some people would think it
may cut down on spontenaiety. i know i tend to write and press send often
before i have thought things through.. which is obvious sometimes :) but it
makes this list like a workshop for me.. where its ok to ask what i think
are dumb or obvious questions, because half the list if probably thinking
the same thing but no one says anything.. my spelling is pretty dodgy, and i
dont always understand the big words and concepts either.. and i think its a
great freedom to not have everything formulated before i say anything.. but
some people see lists as equivalent to print publiction which is why i
wanted to stress "edited" and that permissions would be sought from the
author before anything is published offline.
but if you want to get published in something offline then here is a good
place to start.
also ...*evil laugh* i have managed to stuff up the coding of the
unsubscribe function on the main -empyre- page (it tries to resubscribe you)
so you are all a captive audience untill i fix it tomorrow.
