Well, opening up to other possibilities is sometimes hard, isn't it.

If somebody has an expectation of what a game on a computer (or a work of
art) should be like, and the work doesn't fit that idea, then they are most
likely to pass on the work rather than look more closely at what *is* there
and look also at their assumptions about how it should be. This is partly
why it is said that it's bad criticism to criticize something for what it is
*not* rather than what it *is*: such criticism is usually blinded by what is
*not* there and cannot thereby see what *is* there.
