RE: [-empyre-] Tactics and Strategies [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
Hi Femke and everyone,
Thanks for your post and apologies if my comments were taken the wrong
way - I think I should clarify...
<quote>your remark a few days ago that "your webby accessibility police
hat went on" when Renee told you our Anxiety Monitor used frames, stuck
with me for completely the wrong reasons</quote>
Femke, I agree that Google is far from accessible and aside from the
issue with alt tags for images, the way in which pages are ranked often
obscures web pages that are related because of the linking relationships
that are used...
<quote> playing with naming and re-naming as a way to (re)appropriate
representation ("queering the language - thanks Tracey!).</quote>
I guess what I was trying to express here was the way in which gay and
lesbian communities have reclaimed negative names for themselves, is the
reference not appropriate?? I always thought that the notion of
'queering' language was a process that reclaimed power and that similar
processes have been utilised to negate sexist and racist
terminologies...
Cheers
Tracey
