Michael Arnold Mages, our friend and former moderator of -empyre- ,
contacted the -empyre- moderating team recently to make an interesting
offer-- two tuition-scholarships to the
Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Aspen, Colorado for this coming season
(June-September 2008)-- for -empyreans- only .
Time is short, but we're super excited to be invited and hope for a
nice crop of applications. You've got just under two weeks to
apply. Here are the details:

Two Presidential Full Merit Scholarships are now available through -
empyre- for emerging or mid-career artists of any nationality who are -
empyre- subscribers. The scholarships pay for the tuition to take
specific week-long digital media workshops at
Anderson Ranch, Aspen, Colorado, US. Anderson Ranch Presidential
Scholarships are funded and administered by Anderson Ranch.

Deadline: April 6, 2008
These awards are designed to help artists who are interested in
extending their current practice, or artists wishing to expand their
practice into the digital realm. Two scholarships are available that
include Full tuition for
a one-week workshop ($1040 USD). Funds are applied to tuition only.
The $1,040 award will cover tuition expenses incurred when taking an
Anderson Ranch workshop, but not all expenses. Total costs vary, but
a typical one-week course
at Anderson Ranch has a total cost of around $1,500 - $2,000. All
recipients are responsible for covering their own $300 deposit to
ensure their commitment to the class. All workshop members must
provide for their own housing, food, travel and studio fees.
The scholarship is available to students and non-students.
The time to apply is very short! All applications must be received
via email by April 6, 2008 to : scholarship.empyre at gmail.com

choose to consider any course that best serves their needs.
To apply: Send your cv in pdf format, url to selection of your current
art work (from the last 3-5 years), and a brief (300 word) letter of
interest, with response to the following questions: What conceptual
and material directions are important to your work? How might
participation
in one of these workshops advance your own practice and development?

2008. Awards will be announced by the end of April 2008.
(N. B.: Presidential Scholarship award recipients are given a high
priority in the Anderson Ranch, registration system. The scholarships
are allocated on a space-available basis. Scholarship funds are being
made available by Anderson Ranch and are fully administered by
Anderson Ranch. The -empyre- moderating team has been asked
to make the selection of 2 award recipients. -empyre- receives no
compensation nor any other material benefit from cooperating with the
Presidential Scholarship award process. Matters related to this
scholarship will not be permitted as a topic on -empyre-. )
The -empyre- list will permit notice of the two award recipients in
late April/early May 2008.
