[-empyre-] Locative Games in Urban Spaces

Hi all

We recently had a memorable event up in Newcastle (UK), perhaps comparable to the radio ballet collective's work, where Slovenian artist Tao Sambolec handed over twenty portable radios tuned to a piece relayed by a local station to a group of us who formed a sound cluster and walked through streets full of Saturday shoppers. There were surprising and surreal interactions - something very gentle about Tao's sound that contrasted hugely with sound everyone knew would be heard in the same binge drinking/ drunken urban landscape a few hours later. Tao's done this piece in quite a few cities and has some very articulate ways of describing cultural response to it.

Newcastle edition is documented at http://musicfilmbroth.com/seminars.html

very best

Hi Kerrie

Check out the freezes or pauses on you tube if your not already on to it:

I think that there is one happening in Sydney this week.

As pointed out by Daphne Dragona, Come out and Play is definatly the
best place to find a collection of these games.

I also recon some of the groups working in this area are worth a look
in. Specifically:

in San Fran and in the UK:

Good luck
