I would recommend Chin-Tao Wu's Privatising Culture: Corporate Art
Intervention since the 1980s to understand how Corporate Sponsorship
of Public and Semi-Public art institutions has shaped the ways in
which corporate actors create value in the art world.
Wu analyzes what happened in Saatchi's relationship to the National
Gallery during the era of Thatcher and the changes in the latter's
exhibiton program that followed.
Neoliberalism has its aesthetics and is always creating institutional
change to promote those aesthetics, although we can't say that the
aesthetics of neoliberalism is our biggest problem!
